Let's see the results of triggering the mutant trap!! 🧟‍♂️

Cephalotus

A longer video of the different Cephalotus in my collection.

Sundews in the suburbs!

Sundews grow wild in the A.C.T.  They're native and beautiful 🤩

Pre-Winter Prep

Trimming VFTs ahead of winter

Fang, my favourite plant this season

Venus flytraps in the garden

Venus flytraps looking grand

Some Venus flytraps that caught my eye this morning.

They’re all typicals except the last one which is DM Vigorous

VFT tidy-up

I did some weeding and I think the results look good!

This is a typical VFT

Revisiting VFTs

Revisiting some Venus flytrap photos.

These are all from earlier this year when they were looking outstanding 🤩

I’ve been playing with various apps on my phone

and thought these motion effects looked pretty nice 😊

567 Days progress

Here’s a single pot of VFTs showing photos I could find from the 3rd February 2020 until the repot on 22nd August 2021.  That’s ❺❻❼ days 🗓

Praying mantis catches a fly

I visited my praying mantis mate this morning and it seems the pitcher plants have competition!  It was quite gross watching it eat the fly 🪰 but… I dunno, circle of life 🤷🏼‍♂️

A bee 🐝 takes a tumble! 24th April 2022

A very LONG look at the collection

A video for true carnivorous plant n̶e̶r̶d̶s̶ enthusiasts -

Carnivorous Plants Are Amazing

Carnivorous Plants Are Amazing

Plants that eat insects are amazing!

Sarracenia "Diablos Banana" with bees, 5th April 2022

I sat watching these bees🐝🐝 dice with death (and ready to rescue) while sipping some juicy nectar from above the mouth of the pitcher! One fell in and managed to fly out again!!

Triggering a mutant trap

This brilliant VFT has a big mutant 🧟‍♂️ trap.

Here's the results of triggering the trap!!

VIDEOS LIKE THESE WILL BE A FEATURE

A great iPhone feature

The best camera for taking photos is the one you have on you! The iPhone allows you to take snaps while recording video and I use it often, especially in lower light conditions. Here's how!

A sunny afternoon in the garden

Some pretty plants in the collection - February 2022

A tabletop of typicals

My best looking "typical' Venus flytraps all in one place 😃

Some favourite plants in the collection

Sarracenia flava var. ornata x oreophila

October 2021

A large Venus flytrap and it's cousin in another pot

I purchased these plants in 2019 and unfortunately they came unlabelled. Therefore I have to consider them as "typicals"

Cephalotus follicularis

One of the most charming carnivorous plants,

The Albany Pitcher Plant - an Australian native plant.

A tabletop of typicals

My best looking "typical' Venus flytraps all in one place 😊

Purps after a tidy up!

I gave some of my Sarracenia pururea (and hybrids) a tidy up the other day. They look so good glowing in the afternoon sun!

Sarracenia flava var. maxima

A beautiful flava from Honeysuckle Road, Harleyville, NC

Some Sarracenia, 15th April 2022

Sarracenia leucophylla f. green veins

The name says it all! It's a beautiful plant that looks better every season.

I've had it in the collection since November 2019

Sarracenia 'Diablos banana' size check

I probably should have used a ruler to show this amazing plants size, but I was focused on taking photos while recording this video! I should also point out that it is playing back at 50% speed due to my poor camera work...

Venus flytrap losing its longer leaves, 15th April 2022

As we head towards winter in Canberra this VFT begins to grow shorter, more prostrate leaves. You can see the longer ones beginning to turn black and the many shorter ones closer to the base of the pot.   This is a wonderfully performing Venus flytrap and it will still look quite amazing over the winter months.

First day of spring!

I couldn’t help myself - I divided and repot this clumpy collection of VFTs…

In case you’re wondering, these are typicals…

I’ll have some for sale in a few weeks time 💵

Carnivorous Plant Field Guide by AUSCPS

The Australasian Carnivorous Plant Society has published beautiful field guides in the past and this one is just as excellent!!

Thanks to the authors for their hard work getting this published, it’s greatly appreciated 😃

Get yourself a copy before they sell out!!

Pages 12 & 13

Drosera auriculata

GLOWING VFTs

When the sun hits these VFTs just right they appear to be glowing!

I love this pot, it's performed tremendously this season...
